Tapokera
Orphanage is based just outside Mzuzu on the road
that leads past Mzuzu airport on the way to Lilongwe.

Orphanage is on the outskirts of Mzuzu in Chiwanja
town, it consists of two classrooms (left and
middle of the picture above) a storeroom and
a kitchen (on the right). The playground is
in front of the orphanage, where the 120 orphans
play, in-between lessons. |

| Several
of the younger orphans, both their parents died
of AIDS and from 6am until 1pm they are looked
after by the orphanage team (a group of local
people who volunteer their time to Tapokera). |

| Some
of the local volunteers who help to look after
the children. These villagers help with cooking,
teaching and discipline for the orphans. |

Tapokera
Orphanage currently provides food and shelter for
120 orphans from about 2yrs old to 12yrs old. The
orphanage is open from 6am until 1pm and the children,
mainly with parents the victims of AIDS, take classes,
eat and play with their peers.

to provide maize porridge and vegetables for one
child for a month.
